Jean and Lewis Green grew up in trying economic times. Lewis, a committed lifelong learner; worked as an airframe technician in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was also an accomplished tradesman with the ability to repair anything. His wife Jean, known for her loving and selfless nature, worked at home raising their children. After Lewis retired from the military in 1987, they returned to Summerside, PEI where they lived the rest of their lives. Their retirement years were enriched with six grandchildren, and they spent 52 years together before Jean passed away in 2005 and Lewis in 2011. Their children are honouring their parents’ strong work ethic and their success in overcoming adversity through lifelong learning by creating an award for a deserving student entering their second year of a trades and industrial technology program.
