Harvey Stewart - Trout River Industries, in Honour of
The establishment of the Harvey Stewart Trout River Industries award honours the legacy and recognizes the outstanding contribution of its founder, Harvey Stewart, to the establishment, growth, and ongoing success of Trout River Industries making it one of Canada’s leading trailer manufacturers. Harvey Stewart is a graduate of Holland College and was honoured with a Holland College Distinguished Alumni Award in 2020.
After graduating from Holland College, Harvey started H.F. Stewart Inc. a machine shop located in West Point. In 1999, he recognized there was a need in the industry for live-bottom trailers and began Trout River Industries, a grassroots startup, building just three live-bottom conveyor trailers that first year. Today, Trout River Industries has expanded multiple times, manufactures approximately 250 units per year, and has grown to include 15 dealers in 52 locations in Canada, USA, Japan, the Middle East, and Australia. H.F. Stewart Inc. continues in business under the ownership and operation of Harvey’s two sons, both of whom are Holland College alum as well.
Trout River Industries, which began in western PEI and continues to employ many people from the western end of the Island, are honouring its 25-year journey of success and the people who have contributed along the way, by investing back into the community and establishing an award for future Holland College students.
