Gerald McCarville, in Memory of
In 2022, Zoe Pocock, outgoing president of the Holland College Student Union, established an annual $500 entrance award for deserving mature students in memory of grandfather, Gerald McCarville. Gerald was a 1948 graduate of Prince of Wales College and graduated from Commerce.
Gerald was Kensington’s longest-serving mayor, leading the town for more than 25 years. Described as a “proud gentleman,” Gerard was honoured to serve his community not only through public office, but also through many initiatives such as Kensington, P.E.I./Bedford, Quebec, Peewee Friendship Hockey Exchange, and the revitalization of the Indian River Church. He had a great wealth of knowledge about Kensington and its history and was fiercely proud of his Island and Irish heritage. Most importantly, Gerald was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
